Printed Electronics meets Solar

Photovoltaic devices can be tailored to various applications, ranging from crystalline silicon modules integrated into the car body to lightweight flexible and extremely ecofriendly organic solar cells with high efficiency under typical artificial lighting conditions. Organic PV can also be designed highly transparent, looking like a tinted window.

Driven by industrialization of PV applications, we develop enabling technologies for low cost, high throughput production of PV. One key feature are fine and highly conductive metal tracks for current collection. A broad variety of approaches are developed, from classical printing to specialized methods as microdispensing or even laser templated galvanization. Within the Fraunhofer Project LEO, Fraunhofer ISE teamed up with Fraunhofer EMFT to develop an integrated process for creating galvanic Cu patterns on large flexible substrates and contacting electronic components at the same step.

Lets join our forces.
