Temperature-resistant marking inks
Temperature-resistant marking inks from Fraunhofer IKTS enable permanent direct part marking of metal and ceramic components even at process temperatures between 500 and 1300 °C. Conventional labels such as laser engraving or standard inks often fail under these harsh conditions, so individual IDs can only be applied after heat treatment and full traceability is limited. The ceramic- and glass-based inks developed at IKTS are printed with industrial inkjet systems as data matrix codes or plain text onto semi-finished products and components and are thermally fixed during processing. They are colour-tuneable, chemically stable and machine-readable. Our services include the development of customized ink systems with adapted glass additives, particle size and printing formulation adjustment as well as the evaluation of suitable printing technologies together with industrial partners.
