The ITM at TU Dresden is a leading research institute in textile and clothing technology and conducts extensive research and development work on the combination of technical textiles and microsystems technology, like: Monitoring of composites, medical textiles (wound monitoring, artificial muscles) or human-machine interaction. The ITM has extensive expertise in the development of customised functional materials, as well as the development of fibre-based sensor and actuator systems, including layout design in line with requirements. Core competencies include functionalisation of textile materials, resorbable substrates, functional integration in surface formation processes, development of intelligent textile structures for elastomer components, development of construction textiles as well as bio- and medical textiles. The ITM has an extensive infrastructure and expertise for interdisciplinary collaboration, enabling the rapid development of completely new technologies and products.
